It’s Saturday night, you’re at home cracking open a few cold ones with buddies as you’re about to watch your Vancouver Canucks on NHL GameCenter Live as they take on their unworthy adversary for the night.
All is well… at least so it seams.
Just as Mark Donnelly is getting ready to belt out a goose bump invoking rendition of the Canadian national anthem your eyes lock onto some of the worst words in sports:
At this point, you have two ways to go:
- Admit defeat, disappoint yourself and your friends and play your collectors edition of Vancouver Canucks Monopoly (hint: this is NOT the option you’re going to take)
- Finish reading this short guide and show “the man” who’s boss by learning how a simple NHL GameCenter Live blackout workaround so you can watch your beloved Vancouver Canucks anytime, anywhere (hint: this IS the option you’re going to take and you’re going to be the hero among your friends!)
The great news here, is that this workaround is very simple.
It involves one piece of software and about 3 minutes of setup time. Then with a few clicks of your mouse each time you want to watch a Canucks game blackout free on GCL you can.
The first thing you will need to do is sign up for HMA. This short process to get your account set up is needed before you can download their great software that will allow you to virtually reside in a different city or country so you can “move yourself” out of Vancouver during the Canucks games since Vancouver is considered to be in the “local market” which means 48 hours of darkness on GCL.
If the Canucks game is being televised nationally, you’re going to want to choose a server in the USA. If the game is being televised nationally in the USA and Canada you’re going to want to choose a server that is outside of North America. Say, France or the UK.
The essential thing to take away here is that your computer cannot be located in whatever is being considered to be the “local market” for the game.
