7 VPN Benefits (Surfing The Web Anonymously and More)

VPN BenefitsThere are so many VPN benefits that you likely don’t know about.

The most commonly known benefit of a VPN is to be able to get around geographic blocks that websites put on their content to try to keep Canadians (and other people around the world) from accessing their content.

I have to agree, that being able to access sites like Hulu, Pandora, the huge American Netflix library and so many more great sites is an amazing benefit but I also must say that all these extra perks are like a thick layer of icing on your cake!’

Here are 7 benefits of using a virtual private network (VPN):

1. VPN Safety

Did you know that when you connect to one of HMA’s servers, your traffic gets encrypted. Imaging that your internet traffic is traveling through a pipeline from your computer to the world wide web.

Right now, without a VPN, that pipeline looks like a Swiss cheese stick full of holes for hackets to snoop in and eavesdrop on what you’re doing online. This is bad.

With a VPN, you’re able to replace that Swiss cheese pipeline with a secure hole-free pipeline so your internet data can travel back and forth without the hackers and evil-doers being able to sniff out what your’e doing.

2. Surf The Web Anonymously

Just like in #1, your internet data will be traveling through the secure pipeline (thanks to HMA).

When your data is routed through the secure HMA server, website and hackers aren’t able to track the connection back to your computer.

This allows you to surf the internet anonymously. Just don’t fact use this for evil.

3. Virtually Reside in Another Country

This benefit of a using a VPN is the main thing we talk about here at How To Get it in Canada and it’s obviously my favorite!

Being able to virtually reside in another country isn’t only good for watching US-based sites. You’re able to connect to a server in the UK, so you can access the BBC iPlayer as an example.

It also allows you to book travel from different countries and save money. Just be sure to factor in the exchange rate and any foreign currency fees your credit card might charge you before you book your ticket.

4. VPNs Work With All Applications

Some methods of securing your internet connection and spoofing your geographic location cause certain applications on your computer to go haywire and stop working.

Since the VPN essentially originates “at the end” of your computer and the secure VPN tunnel then connects to the internet, there shouldn’t be any reason why it would prevent applications on your computer to stop working.

5. Government Style Security

HMA uses government level encryption standards which can help you stay safe and avoid getting hacked.

Getting hacked can really suck, you can have your identity stolen which can be the least of your worries as the hackers start to live large with your credit cards and bank accounts.

Stay safe, use a VPN.

6. Get Around Censorship

This is great for accessing location specific sites to watch movies and TV shows, but it also lets you do things like access Facebook in China.

This can come in handy when you’re traveling the world and you want to be able to update all your friends on your trip.

7. Easy To Use

HMA is literally set up in a matter of minutes and it would be hard to figure out how to make it any easier to use.

Take a few minutes to read our VPN 101 setup guide to see just how easy using a VPN to take advantage of all these benefits really is.
